Ingredients

1 cup toor dal

2 cups spinach (chopped)

2 tbsp oil or ghee

1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

3–4 garlic cloves

1 green chili
-
½ tsp turmeric

Salt to taste
Method
Step 1: Cook the Dal

Wash and pressure cook toor dal with turmeric and water (3–4 whistles)

Mash lightly once cooked
Step 2: Add Spinach

Add chopped spinach to the cooked dal

Simmer for 5–7 minutes until soft
This step ensures nutrients are retained while blending flavors
Step 3: Prepare the Tadka

Heat oil/ghee in a pan

Add cumin seeds and let them crackle

Add garlic and green chilli, sauté until golden
Step 4: Combine & Finish
